THE VERDI FESTIVAL IN PARMA & THE VICENZA OPERA FESTIVAL

OCTOBER 2027
LINDY MONTGOMERY

*** Preliminary Itinerary ***

Enjoy a range of works by Giuseppe Verdi at delightful Parma’s annual celebration, and continue to elegant Vicenza for its highly-regarded opera festival

OVERVIEW

Immerse yourself in Parma’s annual Festival Verdi, and discover the highly-regarded Vicenza Opera Festival directed by conductor Iván Fischer.

The Festival Verdi takes place in the historic opera houses of Emilia-Romagna, from Parma’s stately Teatro Regio to Busseto’s bijoux Teatro Verdi. Our survey of the rich musical history of northern Italy includes a visit to a luthier’s studio in Cremona with a private performance, a behind-the-scenes tour of Parma’s Teatro Regio, one of Italy’s most respected opera houses, and a visit to Parma’s historic Teatro Farnese.

The tour also includes the Vicenza Opera Festival. This annual event is directed by conductor Iván Fischer with the award-winning Budapest Festival Orchestra. Its performances are enhanced by the venue in which they are performed: Palladio’s immaculate Teatro Olimpico, constructed in a classical style in 1580 and the perfect backdrop for the refreshing interpretations of the Budapest Festival Orchestra. Excursions to Palladian villas and a private recital in a privately-owned Baroque villa, under frescoes by the Tiepolo family, round out the experience.

Pre-performances talks by experienced tour leader Lindy Montgomery further enhance your experience.
