28 march – 09 april 2026

Engage with this outstanding program of opera, oratorio and symphonic works, several of which feature exciting faces in the new generation of talented musicians at the annual Baden-Baden Easter Festival
OVERVIEW
In 2026, the Baden-Baden Easter Festival welcomes two of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw and the peripatetic Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the latter made up of 45 invited musicians from over 20 different countries. The two orchestras will be led by two of the world’s most exciting young conductors: Klaus Mäkelä – who is already the Concertgebouw’s Chief Conductor-designate – and Joana Mallwitz, the Chief Conductor of Berlin’s Konzerthaus Orchestra, who is teamed at the Festival with the superb Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
The program both conductors have chosen to present is dazzling in its variety – Bach’s Matthew Passion and Wagner’s Lohengrin; Bruckner’s Eighth Symphony and Mahler’s Fifth; and Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem. Celebrated pianist Hélène Grimaud will also direct the MCO from the keyboard in concertos by Schumann and Brahms.
Limelight Arts Travel’s program is neatly rounded out with two additional performances in Munich: Verdi’s Macbeth and Wagner’s Parsifal.
